Facebook Shops: A New Way To Sell On Shopify

Facebook Shops introduced a new way to sell on Shopify. Offering a unique, selling experience in the Facebook family of apps whilst without the headache of much technical setup. Here’s what you need to know about Facebook Shops.

Selling on social with Facebook Shops

The way we sell online is having a major shakeup. Social media has been a big part of the eCommerce ecosystem. Most businesses on Shopify use social media for brand awareness and to sell their products. With algorithm changes and consumers not necessarily in the buying mode when they use social media, it can be difficult to sell through social media without running ads.

Shopify recently announced a partnership with Facebook to help businesses create Facebook Shops. A new and free tool, helping Shopify store owners create a customised online storefront, native to Facebook and Instagram.

Shopify has partnered with Facebook for over five years, providing merchants with a multi-channel commerce solution and is one of the first to support Facebook’s new mobile-first shopping experience. Merchants will have control over customisation and merchandising for their storefronts on Facebook and Instagram, whilst still managing their products, inventory, orders and fulfilment from within Shopify.

Customers will now be able to easily find, browse and buy products in apps they use every day. Checkout will be powered by Shopify for merchants, with Shopify also offering Instagram Checkout to select merchants testing the new feature.

“Shopify powers more than one million businesses that are transforming the direct-to-consumer landscape and changing the way we shop. With Facebook Shops, we’re bringing the tech industry together to help entrepreneurs succeed at a critical time,” said Tobi Lütke, CEO of Shopify. “By pairing Shopify’s platform and commerce capabilities with Facebook’s reach and scale, we are reducing the barriers to entrepreneurship and advancing the future of commerce.”

“Shopify offers tools that entrepreneurs need to start and run their businesses, and they’re helping a lot of companies move online. We’re excited to work with them to help small businesses prepare for the future,” said Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and CEO of Facebook.
