Valentine's Day Ideas to Increase Conversions on Shopify

Valentine’s Day Ideas to Increase Conversions on Shopify

Christmas is over, the New Year is out… Now it’s time to start getting ready and pushing out your Valentine’s Day marketing ideas for your Shopify store. With the last couple of years spent in lockdown, many have gotten used to shopping for gifts online.

Now more than ever, people are spending more time and money online looking for the perfect gifts for their loved ones. This is a great opportunity for merchants to attract new customers and increase conversions with previous customers too.

With February 14th being just around the corner, it’s time to start get out a glass, light the candles and lay the rose petals.

Here’s how to increase conversions in your Shopify store this Valentine’s day:

1. Updating Your Theme on Shopify

A clear way of letting your visitors know that you’re taking part in the holiday season is by updating your theme, branding and marketing. Sprucing your store up with a bit of love can certainly go a long way and help your visitors get in the mood for Valentine’s Day.

Grabbing your customers attention is important in getting them to take part in your holiday sale or to shop with you for gifts. You don’t need to go over the top and change your cursor to cupids bow. Just update your headers, and maybe a few other graphic updates.

2. Gift Guides

One of the best ways to increase conversions throughout any holiday season is by using gift guides. With Valentine’s Day becoming more popular, it’s important to get personal and segment your gift guides to increase conversions and really drill down to your target audience.

Great ideas for gift guides could include: ‘Valentine’s Gift Ideas for Her/Him’ and ‘Valentine’s Gift Guide for Vegans’. You can also be more specific and offer a guide with gifts under a certain sum of money like ‘Valentine’s Gifts under $15’.

3. Valentine’s Day Newsletter Card

Kick off the season of love with an e-card to your customers. A quick reminder to your email marketing list can go a long way, especially if you include your gift guides and your marketing lists are segmented properly, you’ll see some great results.

Get creative with your subject lines and test variations of campaigns that have worked in previous years/campaigns.

PRO TIP: Email marketing may not yield the results that it used to. Our inboxes overloaded social feeds filled. BUT one place that isn’t explored as much is SMS marketing. SMS marketing has extremely high open rates, comparable to email marketing when it first took off. That goes for other metrics too such as click-through rates.

Explore using an SMS marketing campaign for the 2022 Valentine’s day holiday season, you might just find a new love for marketing.

4. Offer Gift Wrapping in your Shopify Store

It’s just been Christmas, many of us have come to terms with the difficulties of wrapping gifts. Gift wrapping is a great way to increase conversions and AOV, also making it much easier for customers to shop with you makes it more likely that they will come back in future for something else.

5. Ensure Delivery Times

Sometimes we can all be a bit last minute, helping last-minute shoppers get their gifts in time is another surefire way to turn one-off purchases into lifetime customers. Be sure to make delivery times clear throughout your site and the purchasing process, this will negate any upsets on the 14th.

Also, work with your couriers to see if you can offer fast track services to your customers, next day delivery is always the best way to get visitors over the line.
