Commercial Director
We are looking for a Commercial Director to lead Rainy City’s growth strategy and own the full revenue generation function across the agency.
This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for the commercial performance of the business. You’ll be responsible for overseeing and executing inbound and outbound sales strategies, managing key channel partnerships, and converting marketing activity into sales outcomes. You’ll also be directly involved in pitching and closing high-value opportunities, managing the sales pipeline, and driving agency visibility through events and strategic collaborations.
A core focus of this role will be turning our sister company, DTC Live, into a high-impact lead generation engine, leveraging its content, community, and partnerships to support revenue growth across the agency.
You’ll bring a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, someone who can lead and motivate a team but also jump into high-priority deals, shape proposals, and own the full customer journey from initial interest to closed-won.
Experience and skills:
- ● Proven experience in commercial leadership, revenue generation, or business development within the eCommerce or digital agency space
- ● Deep understanding of eCommerce, Shopify, and DTC business models
- ● Strong background in building and scaling outbound and inbound sales functions
- ● Experience owning and managing a sales funnel, from lead generation through to close and post-sale nurturing
- ● Comfortable leading pitches, negotiating contracts, and closing six-figure deals
- ● Proven track record of converting marketing-qualified leads into sales opportunities
- ● Experience working cross-functionally with marketing, strategy, partnerships, and delivery teams
- ● Strong communication and presentation skills; able to build trust with stakeholders at all levels
- ● Data-driven approach to forecasting, reporting, and performance tracking
- ● Entrepreneurial mindset; proactive, resilient, and commercially sharp
- ● Comfortable managing and building high-performing teams, with clear KPIs and accountability structures
- ● Experience managing or contributing to event-led or content-driven sales strategies
Responsibilities:

Revenue Leadership
- ◦ Own the full sales cycle from lead generation to conversion and post-sale nurturing
- ◦ Define and execute the agency’s revenue generation strategy in line with business goals
- ◦ Lead the commercial function across inbound sales, outbound sales, marketing, and partnerships
- ◦ Collaborate with the CEO and other department heads to shape growth plans and targets
- ◦ Report regularly on performance, pipeline, and commercial risk or opportunity

Sales & Pipeline Ownership
- ◦ Develop and manage a structured sales funnel, from initial outreach to close
- ◦ Own all outbound sales activity: strategy, execution, tools, campaigns, team
- ◦ Oversee inbound lead management: qualification, conversion, and nurturing
- ◦ Manage and refine the pitching process, working closely with strategy and delivery teams
- ◦ Ensure leads are followed up effectively, including previously lost or dormant opportunities
- ◦ Personally lead strategic or high-complexity deals, from first contact through to signed agreement
- ◦ Forecast and track key sales metrics including pipeline value, velocity, and close rate
- ● Marketing → Sales Integration
- ◦ Work closely with marketing to convert campaign and content performance into measurable sales outcomes
- ◦ Align lead generation and campaign activity with revenue goals
- ◦ Take full ownership of how content, events, and outreach translate into qualified sales opportunities
- ◦ Review and optimise the handoff between marketing, partnerships, and sales regularly
- ◦ DTC Live Growth & Integration
- ◦ Develop and implement a strategy to position DTC Live as a lead generation engine for Rainy City
- ◦ Manage DTC Live’s partnerships, speaker network, and events calendar for commercial opportunities
- ◦ Track and measure attendee engagement and convert high-value participants into sales conversations
- ◦ Collaborate with the marketing and events team to turn visibility into pipeline
- ● Channel Partnerships
- ◦ Identify and grow key partnerships with complementary platforms, agencies, and services
- ◦ Lead co-marketing, co-selling, and referral opportunities with partners
- ◦ Track partner-driven lead generation, marketing spend, and revenue impact
- ◦ Ensure clear ownership of partner management processes and relationships
- ● Team Leadership
- ◦ Build, lead, and manage a high-performing sales and commercial team
- ◦ Set clear goals, performance expectations, and review cycles
- ◦ Provide mentorship, training, and regular feedback to support individual and team development
- ◦ Create a results-driven, collaborative sales culture with clear accountability and shared success
