COVID-19 Top Selling eCommerce Products

Life in lockdown has resulted in many of us changing how we shop, what we do to pass the time and how we work. More than half of European shoppers have said they are shopping online more than ever before.

Research conducted by Mastercard has revealed online shoppers are spending more on entertainment. More than half of European shoppers saying they are shopping online more than ever with record numbers signing up to virtual experiences like home fitness classes, TV and film subscriptions along with online learning during lockdown.

As lockdown restrictions slowly start to ease, we take a look at the top-selling eCommerce products throughout COVID-19.

COVID-19 Top Selling eCommerce Products:

Books

At the top of the list at 32% is books. With most of us working at home throughout the lockdown, lots of us are looking for ways to be able to switch off and step away from the screen.

Cooking Utensils

What have you been cooking in lockdown? More time at home means more time to cook, in fact, 22% of those surveyed have been buying cooking utensils during the lockdown.

Hair Colouring

Barbers, hairdressers and beauticians have been closed and will be for quite some time. For some of us, it’s just been a simple quarantine cut, but a whopping 19% have ordered hair colouring products online during lockdown… And there was us thinking it was a Zoom filter.

Board Games

This probably wasn’t the wisest decision for many, Monopoly can only end in one way. 18% of those surveyed have purchased a board game to help pass the time. Many online gaming platforms have released discounts and other promotional offers, but it seems many of us are happy with a traditional board game and family time.

Puzzles

Following closely behind the spike in sales of board games are puzzles. 17% have stepped away from the screen to sit down and enjoy a nice peaceful puzzle.

Hair Clippers

It’s quite a daring move to have a family member cut your hair when you’ve been stuck in the house for a long time. 15% of us seem to have some level of trust for our beloved family members/home barbers.

Many of us turned to YouTube and typed in the dreaded phrase… “HOW TO CUT YOUR OWN HAIR!”. We’re just surprised hats didn’t make it onto the list.

Computers / Equipment

13% have ordered computers and equipment, most are likely due to the transition of many working from home.

Pillows

Whether it’s home improvement or just to spruce up the bedroom a little and get a good nights sleep. 13% of those surveyed have purchased new pillows.

Dumbbells / Fitness equipment

Gyms were one of the first places to close at the start of lockdown due to the risk of cross-contamination in the high-intensity environment. 13% of us have ordered fitness equipment during the lockdown, with many stores selling out fast due to the uptake in orders.

Arts & Crafts

Last but certainly not least we have Arts & Crafts. 12% of those surveyed have purchased arts and crafts products during COVID-19,
